My mobile won’t
turn on... |
Did you spill your drink on it on
Friday night or drop it in the toilet
and get water in the battery pack? |
If your phone has ridden the porcelain
train or gotten wet some other way -
it may not be possible to repair. Try removing the battery, tipping the water out, drying it quickly with a cloth and then air drying it standing upright.
NOTE: Do not dismantle |
Has the phone been thrown at a
wall/person or sat on/dropped by
someone? |
If your mobile has been subjected to a strong impact or force, it may be damaged beyond repair. |
When did you last remember to
charge it? |
Charge it overnight and then check the battery. It’s also possible that the battery contacts may be dirty – gently clean them and try again. |
My mobile’s battery life
is virtually non-existant |
How often do you write emails, surf the web, take photos, or download music? |
These tasks use far more battery than talking or texting and will drain your battery much faster. Also if your phone is bordering on prehistoric – the battery might have reached its lifespan. |
I can’t make or receive
calls |
Are you calling the right number? |
Check the phone number. Again. Sometimes SIM cards can be dislodged – check that it’s in the correct position. |
Has your SIM card been damaged
or not installed correctly? |

Have your calls been barred? |
If barring is enabled, cancel the bar by referring to section ‘Security settings’. |
Do you have clear view of the sky or are you outside the service area?
Sometimes satellite signals can be weak inside a building, tunnel, or other structure that limits your view of the sky. |
To check signal strength, access the menu and follow the prompts on the display. The higher the number of bars displayed on your mobile phone, the better the signal. |

If there is no/limited signal, move to a location with a stronger signal and try again. |
My mobile rings but I
can’t hear it! |
Have you put your phone on silent and forgot about it? |
Check that the mobile phone is set to ring and if not, change the settings so it is. |
I can’t save any new phone
numbers, SMS or photos |
Is your internal memory or memory card full |
Check that the SIM card memory is not full. Delete unused phonebook entries (like of friends that are now foes) and photos and SMS with no emotional attachments |
